As for cleaning the MAF, it's pretty simple. Get a can of MAF cleaner. Gently spray it thoroughly. Allow it to air dry (dries pretty quick). Reinstall. You should be able to see if it's clean after the first couple sprays. If it still looks a little dirty, give it a couple more sprays.
Have to put several DIY projects on hold, still around 32 Degrees F here, also the Tailgate Glass (an unexpected $250. expensive ) should be replaced hopefully today or tomorrow.
Post your results once accomplished, hopefully you will receive some positive results for MPG. I should be able to follow suit for the MAF clean & reset this weekend as the outside temperature is to rise.

Well... I got around to doing it yesterday, mostly. The MAF is the original, and one of the screws were rusted. It took some patience and PB Blaster to get it out without stripping the head. It did appear to have a film on it, so I gave it some good blasts of cleaner. It looked improved, so I put it back in.

As for the SeaFoam Spray, that was tricky. It was easier to install the tube just passed the MAF, and hope for the best that it was making its way to the throttle plate. The can wasn't very consistent with spraying, and eventually it stopped spraying with about 1/4 - 1/3 of a can left. Since I wasn't able to tell when it actually stopped spraying, I think the hot soak was unsuccessful. I know it was making it in, as some smoke came from the exhaust, but not much more came out after I left it sit for a little while. I'm going to contact SeaFoam to see if they'll offer some kind of replacement or discount for a replacement can, since I wasn't able to use the whole can.

I did notice a slight decrease in tapping while I was doing the SeaFoam treatment. It's a little smoother as well. I'll update how/if it affects gas mileage.

Great to hear you had no issues apart from the Seafoam canister, even better if the MPG improves.
Although off topic, how the Quick Struts work out? ....

was hoping for a reply. Still trying to figure out what route to take to replace my rear struts.

I haven't had the replacements installed yet, but I did a little research, and I do believe they sent different struts. The boxes are different (first ones had colored boxes), so that was a clue.

The part number on one of the boxes points to struts sold by 1A Auto, which cost a little more ($210) and include a lifetime warranty, versus the part numbers for the ones I originally received sold by AM Auto with a 10 year warranty (as I think I mentioned perviously, AM Auto and 1A Auto are the same company). I might see if I can get them installed later today. I can spare another $20, so it's just a matter of him having time to do it.

Cleaned the MAF Sensor (an easy DIY) but left the Throttle Body as it was, since I didn't notice any indication it was sticking as acceleration is smooth, as is the idle. Also reset the ECU via disconnecting the negative side of the battery for 30 minutes, time will tell if the MPG improves some.
Tip: I did notice to make sure you unscrew the screws for the MAF Sensor with the correct size phillips screwdriver. The tip of the screwdriver should fit in the screw perfectly with no play at all, as the head of these screws seem like they can strip easily.

[QUOTE=RedGemini;9823002] today, I want to clean the MAF

As for cleaning the MAF, Allow it to air dry (dries pretty quick). Reinstall.( /Quote)

I'm a horrible guesser. Does the MAF sensor need to be taken off to clean with spray or merely disconnect the air duct at front of the MAF housing? Has anyone with 10MPG had success after spray cleaning the MAF sensor? Has anyone with 10MPG had success by changing one or more Oxygen sensors? What procedure got the car up to 18MPG?

On my car it was my junk flebay bay coils aka fake oem coils causing the bad gas mileage and intermittent engine vibration with misfires(no codes) at idle.

Hi, My 05 RX330 AWD has always gotten 14-17 mpg with Reg gas around town (city) and 22-23 mpg Highway since I've owned it.
It always been Well maintained by a Very Reputable and Highly Recommended shop.
The 3.3 L engine isn't known for being Thrifty with fuel, but Hey, it makes up for it in Power!
I've used Reg and Premium gas, No Difference in MPG with either.
I do tend to use the Cruise Control on my highway drives, and that will cut down on the MPG!
I always fill it Up and divide odometer miles driven by gallons used. It's No Prius for Sure!!
The RX350 has gets better MPG, but a different engine and trans!
