In the last couple of days the R & D lights stay on in any gear other than Park. Also car dies when shifting from Reverse to Drive. Any guesses as to why?

When's the last time the transmission fluid was changed?

Any warning lights from the dash? best to have that scanned for Transmission codes, possibly linkage adjustment issue.

It was changed about 10k ago

Only lights are the R & D & now the 2 is lighting up also. She seems to be shifting ok but..... continues to die everytime I back out of a parking space when going from Reverse to Drive & now when I put it in park :/

It sounds like you have multiple issues.

If it was just the transmission, you wouldn't have the engine die on you when you shift from reverse to drive.

Is the check engine light on? If so, you should have the codes read, pepboys does it for free.

How does the car drive? doesn't shift hard? and other drives fine?

Nope on the check engine light
Seems to be shifting & driving fine which is why I'm at a loss
I'll go check out Pep Boys I didn't know they did that

I wouldn't bother with Pepboys as they will only have a generic OBD II scanner. You need to take it to a Toyota or Lexus dealer so they can get the manufacturer specific codes.
