Default Chrome Wheels Price?

Does anyone have any idea what the Lexus dealers are charging for the Chrome wheel option.....both MSRP and Invoice?

When I initally asked the sales person he said 2K, then when confronted with this question again he asked the Manager and it was more like $1800......then invoice was like 3-4 hundred off this price....sooooo, they invoice for $1400???? Really!? Seems expensive to just chrome your originals?
Thx!

Had read on the Freshalloy.com forums that actual dealer cost was about $800 for the actual chroming. Doesn't include his time to remove tires/wheels on the vehicle, set up tire pressure monitoring, sending out new wheels for chroming, etc. Also, the Infiniti dealers were then extending warantees on the chromed wheels thru the balance of the car warranty. So, they may then want a reserve for future warranty work. Otherwise, you will have to take your wheels off, remove tires and then send in rims to have them chromed. Won't be able to drive the car in the meantime, no wheels. Which is why dealers do a swap.

eyebike - that sounds about right. i paid $800 for 16" chromes on an '01 RX300. the dealer said that this was his cost. they were in stock at the dealership and ready to go on day of delivery.

i expected to pay more this time around for the RX330's 18" wheels, due to (1) the larger wheel size, (2) shipping in/out for the originals and (3) additional labor incurred after initial delivery for install and re-balancing. i got "fleet price" this time - $1295. "retail" (as posted on the window as dealer upgrade) is normally 1800-2000.

i think that i got a fair price, especially given that i was their first RX330 customer. it was definitely more of a favor than a must-do for my salesperson. it was a total pain for them. they had to find aftermarket wheels for their dealer demo (which i saw recently and they were really ugly!), send out the original 18's to L.A., get them back, and then exchange mine and do 2 re-balancings to make sure everything was kosher. (the total labor was approx 2-2.5 hours). not to mention, i rode around for 5 weeks and 1700 miles on mine, so i was not without rims or a car for any time at all. i purchased the wheels at time of delivery and it was a part of the purchase price (and i got a Due Bill), so those will be covered under warranty for defects, etc.

so if you want to get the RX factory 18's chromed - negotiate a fair price at your dealer and have it written up as part of the purchase as a core exchange. good luck!
