Default Back drive shaft remove

Hi, I have Rx 330 2005 AWD, recently we dont have winters in Poland, so I dont need 4x4 . Is it possible to drive without the back drive shaft? It very easy to remove it, but is it save for e.g. diferential or other mechnisms? By the way I could reduce fuel consumption, I think, 18miles/gallon is really too much for polish realities.

they are multiple pieces so if you completely remove, you may have to content with leaks from yolk area? it's AWD and it was designed for foul weather condition so you should leave it as it is.
