before taking it in to the dealer for the standard 1k check-up, i actually went offroading before the rain came and the RX was absolutely great. i mainly did it to shake up anything else that might come loose or tend to rattle (i know, i'm crazy), because i am super annoyed by any and all rattles. fortunately, nothing "new" came up after about 15 minutes off-road.

here are the results of my 1k check-up:

(1) rattle coming from the overhead DVD console (like a ticking noise) over all road surfaces, smooth or rough - dealer insulated some areas, but was unable to test drive it do to the heavy downpour we had yesterday. rattle noise is reduced, and not present over some road surfaces, but still there!!

(2) moonroof was creaking, almost sounding like twisting, when turning - dealer stated that the seal was too tight, loosened it a bit and lubricated moonroof seal, problem solved, no more noise.

(3) moonroof seemed to be "skipping" when closing, not a smooth closure like the opening (it looks alright and forms a tight seal, but you can see it and hear it jiggling a little, like there's some kind of friction on the track preventing it from sliding nice and smooth) - dealer said that this is normal when compared to other new RX330's on the lot.


has anyone else experienced similar noises/irritations? i'm annoyed about the DVD rattle and the moonroof closure. they are going to check it out again when my RX gets fitted with chrome wheels in two weeks

 

I haven't had any problems with the moonroof so far. It opens and closes smoothly for me.

Yes! I have the same problem. I bought the RX330 with the multi panel moonroof. Is that what yours is? When it is completely closed it doesn't rattle and when its completely open it only rattles if I go over a very big pothole. But, when its open half way, it rattles like crazy. The dealer said that it was because it runs on a cable and when its all the way open or closed, the cable is tight but when its half way open there is some slack in the cable. NOT acceptable. All they could offer was that they would report it to the factory in Japan and let me know if they came up with a fix for it. I'm like you. Rattles drive me NUTS!! Other than that its a great vehicle but I'm very dissapointed that you could spend that much money and have to deal with rattles!! Have you come up with a solution yet?

 

I've stated in previous posts that I have a mystery rattle / wind vibration coming from the rear passenger side - at first I thought it might be the antenna, then the roof rack, now I think it may be coming from inside the C Pillar - it comes and goes at various speeds above 60mph - it is my #1 pet peeve of my RX330
