Default 2004-2005 RX330 Transmission Issues?

Hey guys, looking to buy one for DD duty...

Keep seeing used RX's with ~120k miles going for under $10k.

Really considering buying one but i saw a couple threads on possible transmission issues. So now naturally i'm really worried about the transmission.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I've seen reports of issues as well. I'm in a 2004 with 150,000 and no problems so far. Everyone always thinks the car is much newer than it is because of how nice it stills looks. Drives like a charm.

It's more of a programming issue, rather than a mechanical issue. Will not affect longevity of the transmission.

Gveng, it's similar/same as the 4th generation ES DBW programming issue which you read posts on.

Consumer Reports gives Lexus the top rating in reliability largely because of transmission issues with otherwise typically reliable brands. Seems Toyota/Lexus use older proven designs where many manufacturers are using dual clutch multisspeed units and CVTs that have been prone to problems, and this brings their rating down.
Its in the news - check it out.
