Fit over mirror replacements - pics included
Not sure if I'll get deleted, but I finally ordered the burco fit over mirror replacement for my 2004 RX330. I wasn't going to spend $300+ on a used mirror for a 10 yr old car and couldn't find just the glass or anything from a junk yard within 100 miles of me after a year of searching.
I finally just bought the $25 fit over glass from burco online. It adheres to the existing glass with automotive adhesive (supposedly). Heating feature remains.
Even though I lose the auto dimming feature of the mirror, I'm happy with the change because as you can see, the mirror was permanently dimmed to begin with. I stupidly thought it'd be a cheap fix when I bought the car.
I couldn't find much information on these, so I thought I'd share.

Cheers everyone

I've got it too, currently only on the passenger side. They are really clear, sharp, no warping. I love them.
they've been on for about 4 months now...adhesive is still going strong.

Good to hear. Mine was on the passenger side only too. It started to make me irrationally angry that I couldn't use that mirror at all!

had the same situation with my 02 Audi A6 and couldnt justify the cost of an OEM dimming mirror replacement. Found an fit over mirror on Ebay and worked flawlessly all the way till i sold the car. Great cheap solution.

Congratulations on a good looking and effective repair! As much as I like the idea of using quality parts, sometimes, a workaround makes a lot of sense.
Recently, I had to deal with a cosmetic only weatherstripping on our Gen2 cars. I'm fairly sure a formal repair was do-able but not without risk. I wound up using a rubber strip and exterior double sided tape to repair and reinforce the failing weatherstrip from the backside. Definitely not a dealership repair! Still works and looks fine.
It also looks like the tape will come in handy for a rubber strip on the roof under the luggage rack. A replacement strip is pretty spendy and optional to me.
