Just courious, how would you rate the other cars?

I had the opportunity to see all the exterior colours as well.
Did you get a chance to take some pics?

All of the vehicles had their pluses and it greatly depends on your presonal tastes and your needs. I will comment on the two other newest entries to this segment.
I personally liked the FX35 quite abit. The styling is unique (I question if it will still be popular in 5 years), the handling is great and the engine/exhaust give off a great sound. In my opinion this is a very niche car and is not a volume vehicle that can compete with the RX330 to the masses.
I was anxious to see the Volvo, but I was left underwhelmed. This vehicle has a very poor steering feel and turning circle. The engine felt underpowered for the vehicle's size (loud).

The biggest surprise of the day for me was the steering of the X5. I found, in sharp turns on the track, the steering to be very heavy and it required major input on my part to stay within the pylons.

Sorry, no pics.

The new four-wheel drive system for the 330 is simpler and lighter than the one used in the 300. During normal (no slip) driving, torque is split 50/50 front to rear. Like the RX300, the RX330 uses a centre differential to split engine power evenly between the front and rear wheels. The RX330 , however, uses all open differentials.
If wheelslip occurs, VSC and TRAC re-distribute engine power front-to-rear and side-to-side, eliminating the need for the viscous coupling used on the previous model.
Both the US and Canadian Web sites say the RX330 has a viscous coupling. The US brochure seems to avoid the subject all together. What's the real story?

Re: viscous coupling

According to the in-class training and the literature I was given the viscous coupling system has been replaced with the system that uses VSC and TRAC to re-apportion engine power.
I will check into this for verification and report back.

CDN Lexus:

Thanks for your report. How different were the sport/regular models in regular driving conditions? My husband wanted the performance package, but we are unable to get it here in the midwest with a Nav system ... just wondering what we'll be missing.

ALso, how was the room in the backseat compared to the x5???

Thanks!

Jennifer
