Ok, so I have the ECT SNOW on the dash. What does it do? Or at least, what is it supposed to do?/

That thread goes off on a few tangents...Basically snow mode controls the accelerator response and transmission to prevent you from accelerating too quickly and slipping. Try it out in a parking lot...If you are in snow mode and floor the gas, you will still accelerate very slowly.
