Default Catalytic Convertor

Hello everyone,
I have a 2004 RX330 awd. It has about 190k miles. The car is in great condition having only ever required routine maintenance. Recently I had the check engine light come on. A mechanic friend scanned an cleared the code. It was 2 codes, 1 for each catalytic convertor. He cleared the codes and they stayed off for a few hundred miles and now they are back on. Is it normal to get codes for both convertor sat the same time? Could this be something other than the converters themselves?
Are these converters only available from the Lexus dealer or could I get them cheaper from a Toyota dealer? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

What are the codes that were scanned? Here is a thread for the P0420 code and purchase of a Toyota convertor off of eBay.
