The new RX looks pretty good. I might be going to the preview they have at Bayridge to check it out. My father's lease is ending soon on his RX, so he is definitely interested in getting the new one.

Default What is on back of rear seats?

What are the plastic things on the backs of the rear seats? There's one on each section: left, right and center.

Those appear to the latches that allow the back of the seats to
move forward and back. I have 2 of them in my RX 300, on my
60/40 backseats.

Hi -- I'm new to the forum

I think the things on the back seats are the tether attachments for the child booster seats -- mandated by law for all cars after 2001. The door flips open to reveal a hook point for the tethers that now come on all baby/infant seats.

Back in 2000 we had the Lexus dealer install the then availble bolt to the back of our right-hand rear seat (99 RX300), so that we could attach our child seat tether. This is a great improvement! -- when you have the seats folded down you have a smooth surface on which to lay cargo -- in ours, the bolt protrudes up.

Knick, great pics, tks!

If they put the wood back in the dash they'll really have a winner aesthetically, IMO.

Default Dash Pod

Dash pod looks like a straight lift from a 4Runner, design wise. Of course the 4Runner doesn't have the Optitron lighting

Talking RX330 in Singapore

heard from our local distributor here in Singapore that the RX330 will be in sometime this march/april 2003. will be a 3litre version, tagged as RX300 (www.lexus.com.sg). shipment is from japan though actual specs and options are still unknown.

also available will be a 2.4litre variant (Toyota Harrier) incoming from Japan, thru our local parallel importers.

yes, they are the tether hooks (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children "LATCH" System).

tkphua -- that's a great web site -- I am going to print it out and keep it with the child seat -- its good information.

I am going to have a LATCH tether installed on the 2000 RX we just bought (number 2 for us -- starting a fleet ) -- I wonder if Lexus can install the new style (i.e. below the surface) rather than the exposed bolt-type?

Thumbs up

I like that they changed the interior side-pillar panels to fabric instead of the vinyl/plastic like material found on the current generation. I agree with Parula, put the wood back on the console and the switches. BTW: is that aluminum trim true or faux?

Hey Knicksfan...from the pics it looks like the key is just a key..no built in fob like the current key/fob??? did you get a good look at the key? Also are the brakelights LED's? its hard to tell from the pics..Thanks - Steve

Default Key does it all

I had to get "special permission" to even get a key to see how the dashboard looked. I didn't even notice in the pics - but in speaking to the saleman he informed me that the key does all the usual things it always did - AND now also raises/lowers the tailgate.

Pretty cool.
