Another rattle
First, a little background information: My wife's RX330 rarely sits still in the driveway. She is *always* going somewhere.
Saturday we were heading to the local Home Depot to pick up some items. I was in the garage gathering parts I needed for my shopping while she started her car. I heard something vaguely 'not right' and heard her shut down her car's engine. That caught my attention and as I looked at her quizzically, she gets out of the driver's seat and asks me, "Did you hear that?" Said it sounded like something was bumping around inside the cabin heater box.
"Open your hood, honey." Says I. Looking in the hood area, I see nothing out of place. I tell her to start the car and everything sounds normal. She's standing by the driver's front fender and mentioned again that it almost sounded like it was inside the car when I catch a glimpse of movement under the plastic cover that hides the coolant overflow and serpentine belt. My wife points and yells, "There's a squirrel in there!"
Stupid squirrel manages to get out of the engine compartment unscathed and scampers away.
I begin laughing so hard I can barely stand.
Now, fast forward to yesterday. Wife is out and about in her car. Calls me to inform that her heater blower is no longer working.
Coincidence? I think not.
I open the glove box to inspect the in-cabin air filter. Oddly, I cannot pull the air filter out. It is obliterated and has been wadded up into the 'squirrel cage' blower blades. I managed to forcibly remove the filter and holder assembly. Now who's laughing? I see no way the squirrel could have entered the car's heater box. I know of the intake screen in the hood compartment and there is no damage to them. The firewall is not breached in any way.
Is there a plastic cover inside the fender well that Rocket J has chewed his way into my car?
