Exclamation rattle...Rattle...RATTLE

Driving me crazy!

There is nothing in the car besides me (and I mean nothing) and I keep hearing a rattling or something loose coming from the back area when I am driving (mostly over rough terrain).

What could it be?

Common problem?

Fixes?

Have you checked to make sure all the tools (jack, toolkit, etc.) are securely affixed in their proper locations?

Have your removed the tonneau cover from the vehicle to make sure it is not coming from that?

I had an annoying rattle coming from the rear of my RX400h whenever I drove over uneven pavement, or the stamped concrete in our neighborhood. It drove me nuts!

I checked everything, tools bins, tonneau cover, etc. I had my wife drive it while I sat in the rear seat and found it was coming from the passenger side rear strut. Struts are new (May of this year) and it turned out to be a blown strut mount, which was replaced and the rattling is gone!

Sweet baby jesus, I hope this is not the case! Not in the mood to spend my Xmas break working on strut mounts!

Thanks! I'll check this out tomorrow!

Hi-
Here is something to try. In the back where your tonneau cover would be if you had one, if you had the tonneau cover in place and unfurled, at the front where it would hook in near the rear glass are two toggle type buttons. They push in and out. Try pushing them and see if that helps the rattle. It helped me keep my sanity.
