I wouldn't let premium gas scare you away. Right now the price difference between premium and reg is about $0.25. If you drive 300 miles (20 mpg) every week, in a month the price difference is $15. As someone pointed out, saving money by going with regular is usually not a wise idea. There are better ways to save $15/month.

I'd prefer 350 over 330 due to engine and timing chain vs. timing belt, but this is just a personal preference.

That also knocked a 2008 RX 400h I flirted with online, since it shares a lot of the size characteristics with the 330.

On the other hand, hubby was ready to plunk down $33k for a 2010 RX 350 with 25k miles. We brought it home overnight and I put it through its paces this morning and came the the conclusion that, alas, it's not the right fit for me. I guess I'm just not a Lexus type? It felt too big, too splashy in the steering and brakes, and too isolated from the road. Maybe I'm just used to the Honda ride? IDK, but I took the 2010 back to the dealer this morning and thanked her very politely.

I appreciate all the responses here as I tried something new!
+1. We have an '06 RX330 that is my wife's car. She had a '12 RX350 as a dealer loaner and hated it as too big. I checked online and I think it is 2 inches longer, 2 inches wider, 3 inches higher and 450 pounds heavier. It's a bigger car. As we will probably replace this car within a year, we've been mulling what to get. If I had to do it today, the Acura RDX is the closest thing in size and luxury and quality. German cars are out...that's a whole 'nuther discussion. Hopefully the "Lexus RAV4" will be out soonish and become an option. Lexus has a big hole in their offering lineup. They made the RX more "manly", but in the process chased away their petite woman drivers.
