As was said earlier in this thread, try to leave the windows opened a crack when parked, if there is no rain in sight. Because you fixed the A/C, run the A/C with the blower on max. While heat is better, the A/C will also remove moisture. If you are concerned about mildew, look for a commercial carpet cleaner or carpet odor eater that includes baking soda in it's contents. Mildew is a bacterial contaminant that is susceptible to changes in pH. The baking soda will address that. The carpet products are designed with the correct amount of baking soda. You could just use some baking soda, but I wouldn't. BTW, a previous post stated that mold is not a concern because the water condensate is pure. That may be, but it's not the water that's carrying the mold. The mold is already in the carpet from the normal wearing of shoes contacting the carpet. Food particles, dirt and other materials like cardboard from packages normally found in a car will also contribute. All they need is water, which your clogged A/C provided. The carpet material itself is probably mold resistant so a little preventive maintenance should leave you with a nice smelling car.

Thank you Stewfalcon. I have had my 2000 RX 350 since 2004 and this problem just happened to me. With your help, hopefully we can resolve this. (I was afraid it was the sunroof, so have been putting plastic shower mats on my roof every night!!)
)

I have dried out my mats w/ a wet vac and sun, but still am having issues with the fogged up windows. Will now try this. Thanks again.

The only true way to have this fixed is to remove the carpet & padding. HA! Kill two birds with one stone. Take it to an audio shop & have them install sound deadener in the enitre front driver & passanger section and while your at it get some new carpet & padding for them to put down. That's just me though. Lemons into lemonade.
