I am a bit confused. BTW joined today.
08 RX350 FWD here, and I just found out that brake fluid needs to be flushed every 30k miles. Is that common for other cars?? Really??
And I've been searching this forum for last 30min, and some say coolant needs to be flushed as well at 30k miles. And when I go to lexus maint schedule site It doesn't have coolant flush for 30k or 60k.
https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lex...ce-schedule.do

I see that transmission goes 100k miles or so which is good.
I just figured it was a bit weird for engineers to design a system that needs 30k interval bleeding where now even consistently working 'engine' oils can last 10k miles (not lexus)..

Thanks

Welcome to the forum. We have massive arguments about these very things.

You appear to be of the 'long interval" camp and you'll find plenty of support here. I think it boils down to how long you intend to keep the car. If it gets moved on in a few years I really think the factory schedule is fine. if you plan to take advantage of the build quality and drive the wheels off it then a bit tighter maintenance schedule will benefit you.

If the vehicle is under warranty be sure to follow the manufactures recommended schedule. Lexus wants the brake system drained, flushed and refilled every 30k. The reason is brake fluid can and will absorb moisture.

I checked the Scheduled Maintenance Log and replacement of coolant is listed for first replacement at 120 months or 100,000 miles. The next at 180 months or 150K. They strongly recommend the use of "Toyota Super Long Life Coolant". Strange that there is no requirement to change at 50K.
