The drilling was a little bit hard, I think the bit I had was made for wood but this piece is pure hard plastic although it looks like wood. I had to use more force to get it to cut. I'm more of a computer guy, but I was able to make the hole and it came out smooth.
The fit was snug. I didn't have to use anything else to hold it in place. The front side flushed nicely against the console and looks like it belongs.
This is a night time shot of how it looks. I will try and take a picture during the day.
I'm happy with the way it came out. No more wires outside and passengers knocking out the hard drive. So currently there's one cable in the glove box and this usb port is upfront.
I also wanted to keep my 12 volt because either my self or other passengers want to charge their usb devices.
Got it taken care of, but carver can you post a picture of where they mounted the microphone?
How did you take care of the head unit not fitting inside the Beatsonic faceplate? I'm planning on doing this myself as well and don't want any surprises.
I'm looking for a 6.1" headunit now. Any suggestion on where to get a inexpensive navigation equipped head unit?
Mini update. It's been over two years and still functioning perfectly. The only thing I would have done differently would have been to run the cable up under and in to the console rather than to the glove box. Using the glove box would be OK if you have an iPod you leave in there permanently but if you are using your phone you have to deal with a cable flopping around the cabin . I'll get it rerouted one of these days. If I decide to get a new iPhone I'll have to replace the cable anyway.
Alternate music sources is something I hadn't considered two years ago but is working out well. Pandora wasn't mentioned as a possibility for the DNX at the time but it does work and I've recently started using Amazon's Cloud Player as well. While the iPod is automatic these additional sources must be selected from the phone and operated from there.
The DNX6960 is two generations old now but is not so out of date I would consider replacing it. When they perfect using your phone for GPS and things work a little better wirelessly I'll spring for a new head unit.
Adding this capability to my car has been a tremendous help and I highly recommend it.
Hey Guys.. its been a few months since my last post..
Here is what I installed:
Pioneer AVHx3500BHS
Beatsonic RX82 Kit, includes Bezel
XM/Sirius Module
Cigarette Lighter replacement USB plug
Mic for Bluetooth Phone
Everything went great on the install.. Had a minor issue with the Beatsonic adapter failing, but they sent me a new one right away..
Here is the issue... a week ago, a 100+yr old tree fell on my 400h, and totalled it. So after almost a year of research, planning, installing and then a couple months of usage... The system has been pulled out and is sitting in a box. If anyone is interested, send me a private message, otherwise in a couple days, itll go on Ebay.

Aww man. So sorry to read this. I hope you're pleased with your 2010 Rx, too bad that vehicle can't be modded like the 2nd gens.
