I was having an issue with the trunk immediately closing after I use the button on the key fob or press the button on the console. Soon as the trunk goes up, it would beep twice and come right back down. People use to think I was playing but I would explain it's actually a problem with the trunk.

Anyhow I came across this post, ordered struts from eBay and installed them today and the trunk is operating as it should.

You all were right about the weight of the trunk. It's really a 2 man (ma'am) job, I loosened all the brackets fix which was a big mistake because when I removed the right side, the left side popped off and the trunk came down. I had to use a shovel to hold the trunk up for a bit. I had to hold the trunk all the way up in order to fit the first strut (left strut in my case) then once that was in, the other strut fit into place without a problem. Next were the clasp. I took them completely off and had to put them completely back on.

Once on, tested them using the key fob and button on the dash and it completely opens without closing immediately on it's own.

Thanks again for everyone that contributed to this post.
I'm getting the same problem as you are. And I figured out how to resolve this problem.

Here is the video on how to resolve it.

However, the Part that he tried to share to everyone on that video is wrong. After I read a couple of comment then I found out which part number is that. This is the part number : 68910-0E014

Further, I'm living in Vietnam, it seem really hard for me to find something like this on amazon and bring it back to Vietnam to solve this problem. So I have two link for you. I found it myself for about 2 hours lol.

It really helps. Hoping you can solve it. I would buy it on Taobao, because it's easier for me to buy. You can buy it on amazon or other links that available if you're looking for this motor online.

on Amazon

Are you sure exhausted gas struts aren’t the problem? Because they push the hatch open. The motor drags the hatch closed overcoming the ejection NMs of the struts. If you have your hatch open manually check to see how effectively the motor closes the hatch. Put your hand on it as it closed and give a very little resistance to test the motor strength. If it insists on closing I’d say it’s only the sruts that are shot

it's one of the problem. We should change it as well. We can buy a new one and change it ourself.

I would change the struts first. See if that fixes it before replacing the motor

My case it was definitely the struts. After changing the struts, the hatch opens and closes without a problem.

Default Liftgate

Let me beat this undead horse once more.
I have to manually lift the back door of my RX350 07 Model after pressing the button on the keyfob or the dash button. It's supposed to go up automatically I think? But it comes down automatically when I press the buttons.
What could be the problem?
Weak struts?
Regards

struts are weak, or the rubber seal is sticky. wipe the seal with a silican spray. Mine sticks every now and again and after cleaning theseal it is ok

How old are the struts? If the struts are the originals, the struts are highly suspect. But try Tom's suggestion first - it is an option that could work, but if it doesn't you haven't wasted any money.

Struts fail, no 2 ways about it. Not repairable as well. Invest in new struts they are not expensive. Otherwise you will have a bump in your head one day when it decides to go down while you are underneath. Safety issue, get it fixed. They are $30 a set or thereabouts.

😂
We all need a whack in the head from time to time.
Can you recommend a good strut, preferably on Amazon?
Thanks.

Amazon will have reviews. I search and purchase the lowest cost with good reviews. Can not go wrong. If you end up with a lemon, you can return and replace, that's the good thing.

I bought my tailgate lifts from here - http://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/lex...ll&Model=RX350 - back in Jan 2019. Not a single problem so far.

All my struts come from this place. Not OEM but works and reasonably priced.
