Help me choose a tire. Sorry for repost
alright please help me. I love your forums but I really would love to have some advice. If you don't want to help becuase you seen so many posts then sorry for wasting your time! I am stuck between
P235/55/18 2006 Lexus RX330
1. Mich Lat Tour
2. Bridgestone Dueler Alenza
3. Continental extremecontact DWS
All about same price range-ish.
1. Mich has the best reviews for comfort/tred/traction BUT that is from tirerack and they do not only do lexus. These tires are also rated T speed wise which is BELOW my OEM tires according to reps at discount tire.
2. These tires have good rep, but its bridgestone/firestone which i am brand scared of. Second the alenza got great reviews BUT the tirerack survey says the ride is louder than that of the Mich Lat Tour. But these are speed rated V so it is better than OEM.
3. Continental got the middle of the road reviews + a V rating speed. BUT it got some pretty uniform reviews of the sidewalls being weak and would get pierced easily before 5k miles too!
I am just so lost!!! I am a huge Michelin fan, I currently have worn out Mich Tires 35k Energys which i now hate due to the low mileage tred! I get a good 22-25MPG (22 being now that my car is shaking like crazy). I live in Houston so there is no snow, but rains average. What do you think would get me the most satisfaction? THANKS!! I NEED TIRES TODAY!

I looked at all of them and went with the Kuhmo Road Venture. It's a nice balance of ride comfort and traction, and costs less than the others. I've been happy with them so far.

Don't know about other tires you mentioned but the Alenza is noisey as hell on my rx 08...I have 15,000 on em and the wear is light..They still look new.
Woukd not buy them again..

I have read good reviews with the Alenza's, are they really noisy?
How about the Yokohamas V4S? I just saw an RX350 wearing them. They look good.

I have the Alenza with about 1k miles on them. $830 installed from Discount tire.
The tread still looks new (granted, it's only 1k miles).
These are less noisy than the Coopers that were on before. I don't even hear the noise but that could very well be because the Coopers were so darn loud.
Mileage has gone down significantly, 15-20% (vs. the Coopers). I now get 20-22 MPG in the City and 22-24 HWY.

If the Michelin V rated Energy saving tires were not so freeking expensive, I would but another set.

It is a trade between noise and mileage.

That's not "excellent" in my opinion. On my old crappy tires, I was getting 24 City and up to 29 hwy. The road noise was unbearable (well to me, since I notice these kinds of things) and the tires hardly lasted 30k miles.

Have you driven those Kuhmos in the snow yet? I'm not sure if I want to get a set of dedicated snow tires and wheels for my RX. Just from what I've read in these forums, the Alenza seems to do best in the snow. Sometimes my dead end street is one of the last to get plowed so snow traction and the ability to blast through the occasional plow-created snow bank is important. Before we got the RX, our 911 C4S (with dedicated snow tires of course) was our "snow car". I'm hoping the RX can take over those duties!

This may help. Do you know what the tread warranty is on your existing tires that you need replaced? If it is less that the mileage you have travelled I would suggest a tread warranty claim. I've just completed the warranty process with Goodyear so here is what I can offer and suggest having ready:
-Invoice for the tire purchase with mileage at time of purchase
-invoices for wheel rotations and alignment
-and most importantly stubbornness as companies boast about customer service yet typically fall apart when put to task.
Also if there is a tread warranty and you have not reached that many miles, phrases like, "the tires are no longer safe" can speed the process along
If you have any further questions please ask as I'd love to assist
