Default IPOD and Functions within RX330

Hey All,

Haven't been on the forum a while as I have been travelling Europe for the last 9 weeks. Anyway during my travels, we picked up a IPod touch initially just for use as a browser and a little bit of entertaining, but it was always destined to connect to the car for my music. When we bought our RX330 we were lucky in that an ipod adapter was already installed.

Hence I have no idea what brand/make it is. Plugging the ipod in it works perfectly and plays my music from the ipod. It is connected so that when it is plugged in, it takes over the CD1 slot on the 6 disc CD changer. It is able to be controlled with the steering wheel buttons for volume and track change up and down. It also displays the track name on the radio lcd display.

This brings me to my question. I am unable to get random working the way I imagine from the car radio controls. I can push the random button (so that random is enabled) and then get a new track. However when I then next push forward on the steering wheel controls for example it doesn't go to a random track it just goes to the next one in sequence. However if I then push the random button on and off and press next track it goes to a random track, but then again if I push forward, it only goes in sequence.

I can set the ipod up to be random mode for the tracks, and this works. However I am then unable to change the track that is playing via the stereo controls, and also the display doesn't show the track anymore.

Any idea how to get random working with the controls? Interestingly enough, I then can't skip the tracks either via the ipod as it just displays "connected to audio device.

Thanks for any advice.

LOL! You just want to rub it in...that you had an Ipod input when you bought the car. Us, we have to either spend some $$ to get one or else beach about it all the time.

LOL!! Then I probably shouldn't mention the aftermarket bluetooth system installed to the car (that cuts the music out and plays through a speaker and automatically connects when I get into the car); or the aftermarket fold down rear screen with infrared headphones and a 1/2 din DVD player under the seat; or the additional 12Volt-240 volt supply fitted to the car for playstation, xbox connectivity All came with it included when I bought the car
