2004 RX 330 Key Lock Won't Lock
Hi,
Thank you for reading this.
All of a sudden my 2004 Rx remote & the car started acting up. When I closed the driver door, the windows all rolled down simultaneously, so I thought the key fob needed a new battery. so went to cvs got the right size and still having same issue. When I press the unlock the windows roll down and unlock the car, but when I press lock nothing happens. Does anyone know the secret combination to reset this thing. I've searched and tried 2 options found through google but still no avail. TIA
Michele

it sounds like the electronics inside the key fob itself might be kaput. i would check ebay as there often are new key shells/electronics/keys themselves that you can buy. but if u buy new electronics for the key fob it will have to be programmed to interface with the vehcies computer. in that case u might check with a local locksmith(s) to see if they can program it for you because if u go to a dealer its not gonna be cheap for them to do it for you.

If you want to try and re-program your existing remote (since it isn't functioning properly, might be worth the effort), I just did this with the key I bought from 1010keys on ebay:
1. Begin with the key out of the ignition.
2. OPEN and UNLOCK the DRIVER'S side door. CLOSE all other doors including the trunk.
3. Within 5 seconds INSERT the key into the ignition and PULL it out TWICE.
4. CLOSE then OPEN the DRIVER's side door TWICE.
5. Insert key INTO the ignition then REMOVE it.
6. CLOSE then OPEN the DRIVER's side door TWICE.
7. Insert the key INTO the ignition and LEAVE it in ignition.
8. CLOSE the DRIVER's side door.
9. Switch the ignition to ON then OFF.
10. REMOVE the key from ignition.
11. The door locks will now cycle to confirm the vehicle has successfully entered programming mode.
12. PUSH and HOLD the LOCK and UNLOCK button for 1.5 seconds on the first remote being programmed. As soon as you let go PUSH the LOCK button and HOLD it for 2 seconds.
13. The door locks will cycle to confirm successful programming of the remote. If you have any additional remotes to program repeat step 12 if you have no additional remotes proceed to step
14. OPEN the DRIVER'S side door. Programming is now complete.

With the 1010keys on ebay, you can select a programmer to come with the new key -- IOW, no locksmith or dealer visit.
When you order, you provide a digital image (or the key code). In turn, they send you the cut key and transponder and you plug the programmer into the OBDII port and follow the step-by-step directions they provide. It takes about 5 minutes to program the key and another 5 minutes to program the remote.
For the RX330, it was right around $50 total.
