Default Tiny Rust Spots...Brake Dust??

Hi Everyone,
I have small specks of rust spots on the body of my 2008 RX350. They appear to be specks of metal...since I can pick some off with my nail and they are on the surface. Unfortunately they leave a rust spot/stain when they are removed.

I am reading on-line this is from brake dust. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions how to remove them? Most articles I read recommend Clay bar.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Yes, clay bar should get rid of them. It's really easy to do. I think the little rust spots are most likely to be from rail dust while being transported on a train.

+1 on the clay bar. Anything left after that should come off with a good dose of a cleaner/wax.

I notice the same thing on my GX, mostly in the winter. I think it is the combination of the salt and the snow removal using the scrapers on the street. After driving in snow I always see little rust spots all over just like what you describe. If I do not drive in the snow or they do not scrape the streets I do not see them. I think it comes from small slivers of metal from the snow plows. Another vote to clay bar, that is what I use in the spring to remove them. On white paint you can really see them.

Give me a break, that tiny piece of steel that makes a brief spark does not stay floating around in the air for minutes or hours until we drive along hitting them. I suppose if you could get your car within half inch of the plow there might be something to that story.
