I have not seen a DIY on this quarter panel repair. You will have to take it to a glass shop. Or else the Lexus dealer.

I think what I posted was enough. You just need to replace the molding. Takes 15min.

Smile Mine Molding fell off also

The rear window molding on my 2006 RX400H also fell off while drive. Simply came out of the inserts and few away. How can I get the part. The dealer set that they do not sell the molding. Only the entire window assembly, (window, frame and molding) for $688.00.

I think if Safelite replaces it, it runs about $350. You can run a quote online.

Find another dealer FAST I inquired when mine came off and was quoted less than half of that at my dealer. I think it was about $300 I lucked out though that while driving at 60 to 70 MPH I heard something hitting the side of the vehicle when I check my two-way radio antenna I saw the trim flapping so I stopped and removed it totally. I will glue it back when the weather holds up.

I do believe there is a service bulletin right, Lexus should meet people on the price if you are kind and ask.

I sent a "nice" letter to Lexus and will let the forum know what they say about this issue of falling parts

Just got off the phone with Lexus Corporate. 1800-255-3987. Apparently, Lexus' philosophy is that if you have your Lexus serviced at a dealership routinely every 5K miles, they may consider covering this design flaw. Otherwise, you're on your own. So much for Lexus' so-call service & quality.

Well, If you had serviced the vehicle every time at Lexus, you could have afforded to replace that window many times over. I just don't understand why they can't simply replace the moulding. Their position on this window part makes no sense at all.

If they make enough profit from you by regularly servicing your vehicle, they will then occasionally extend a goodwill gesture to do certain out-of-warranty design defect repairs.

Sucks for folks that use their own long time trusted independent repair shops.

If I wanted something that has parts falling off in 6 years, I would have gotten a Chrysler....

Default Lexus Good Will

I am happy to report that Lexus corporation called and stated that they will replace the plastic and complete window assembly at "no charge" as a "Good Will.

I took the car to the dealership that wanted to charge $688 and they replaced the entire assembly.

Thanks to the effort of a very nice letter to Lexus Corporation and I also believe all the comments I found at this forum helped in the decision making at Lexus
