Roof Rack removal procedure

Did you not buy the conversion kit? Sewell has the conversion kit, complete with all you need. What do you have?

I have yet to purchase the kit as I live in Canada and I want to have everything ordered correctly so I only get brutality assaulted on shipping and brokerage charges once

Cam anyone tell me if there is an equivqlent Toyota part number. Surely they would use something similar for things like the Kluger and Landcruisers. There is no point for me to order through Sewell, as I am in Australia and shipping alone will be at least $100. To buy it here from Lexus is going to be about $103.

Can anyone tell me what the measurements of the roof drip is. From the looks of it the width is the width of the black rails, but what is the length? The part numbers as mentioned before:
2 each 75595-48011 cover, roof drip
2 each 75596-48011 cover, roof drip
2 each 75595-48011 cover, roof drip
2 each 75596-48011 cover, roof drip

Have you tried using the Sewell part number at your local dealer? It was like $60 for the entire kit from sewell. Looks like they are standard Toyota Parts
2 each 75595-48011 cover, roof drip
2 each 75596-48011 cover, roof drip
There are also 8 bolts and four retaining brackets that come with the kit. The covers are just long enough to fill the gap.

I am in Australia and it would cost too much to get stuff from Sewell. It's expensive for 4 plastic covers and the bracket. I did call Toyota the other day and they do have that specific part number in their catalogue. I did also have a look at the piece of rubber that sits on the roof and it almost looks like something you could find at a hardware store. Also it would probably be okay to buy 1 piece rather than 2 to fill in the gaps that are left from the rubber where the mounting points used to be.
I finally managed to get round to taking my roof rails off my car. Originally looking at pictures I was kind-off against it and didn't think it looked right. However after removing them (I don't see me ever really using the roof rack) I have to admit that they give the car a much sportier/sleeker look. I will see how I go over the next couple of days to see if it grows even more or whether I put the rails back on.

Its been 5 years since I had mine put on. But If I remember right. It was about 300 for the steps. And I paid like 200 to have them installed.

I bought some rubber with the view to fill the gaps that the roof rails have left. The rubber itself looks "okay" but I would much prefer to get it all lined up. Is there really any difference between the left and the right side for these weather strips? I would suspect that they literally flipped around for each side. I was planning on buying one and then cutting in half to fill both sides rather than spend an small fortune for 2 new black pieces of rubber at the end of the day. I will post some pictures up of the temporary solution until I can find an awesome price for these weather strips.

Post pics so we can check it out. Nobody can really see the roof. As long as it is sealed, you are good.

The one piece Panoramic moon roof inserts are the best way to go. 100 dollars each from the dealer.
Part Numbers:
75551-48041
75552-48041
To remove the entire rack.

I thought about maybe just getting one roof insert and just cutting it to fit the 2 gaps I have. First off what I did was slide the original insert forward so that from the front window it lined up nicely. Pretty much seamless for what I needed.
Second I tried to do the rubber thing, which frankly I am not that happy with, but will do until I can source either the single roof insert or get some spare ones that came off a car that previously had roof racks and use the left over pieces to fill in the gaps. This is it with the rubber. The problem with the rubber is that it tends to be bent so doesn't sit flat - which is the primary bit of annoyance at the moment. I have some double-sided tape underneath it, but do not know how long it will last.
As you can see there is bit of grime on the old stuff that I have yet to clean up, but should look a lot better after a nice cleanup.
