Roof rack noise
Hello all,
My 04 RX330 is recently having quite some noise around the roof rack area when driving at highway speed. I have checked the cross bar and it is not totally tight. I could still hold and rock it back and forth a tiny bit (not much). Isn't it supposed to be like this? If not, how can I tighten this to make it tight. If someone can post some picture on how to correct this problem, it would be very helpful.
Another problem is trying to replace the stock air filter with a K&N one (ordered from Auto Anything since they have free S&H) and can't seem to put the cover back with the 2 screws. There is not much room to work around this area. I tried all possible ways that I could so finally had to put the stock filter back on and everything was fine. Does anybody know the correct P/N for K&N air filter on 04 RX330? They might give me a wrong part. Please advise. Thanks.

The roof cross bar do have a little bit of give. This is normal.
I have an 08 RX350, (not sure if it the same on the 04) but the air box is very tight and little room to work in. I had to unplug the sensor next to the air box in order to have more room to move the cover to install the K & N filter.

Noise coming from the roof can be caused by other sources, not the rack. One instance, it was the something in the underside and the sound carried through the top. Giving you the impression it was from the top. I have not heard the racks giving odd noises.

This the the noise that I definitely hear from the top and just happened recently. I'll have the dealer to take a look at it since this is a CPO one. It is just a matter of finding time to bring it to them. I'll keep everyone informed. Thanks.
