2009 RX350 HVAC Question
I typically do not use the "AUTO" feature on the climate control instead preferring to decide what settings I need. My question is, with the system in manual, not auto, when I turn the vehicle on the "RECIRC" is automatically engaged. I prefer that the outside air circulate instead. Is there a way to NOT have the "RECIRC" be the default every time I start the car? The AC is also not on, just the fan in vent mode.
Thanks for any assistance in advance.

i dont think this can be changed. The recirculation button is auto pressed immediately after you turn off then engine. If you listen quietly, you can actually hear it closing after the engine is off. This is to prevent outside air (pollution) from entering while the car is parked.

Good luck.
You can find the Lexus Personalized Settings files for all models on this page, at least until lexus updates it. (It appears it's supposed to be a page specific for the IS convert...) http://www.lexus.com/models/ISC/service/index.html Then click on the "lexus personalized settings" link under "service"

Thanks for your replies - I think RXSF may be right. The LPS description states "when the AC is ON or in AUTO, the vehicle can be programmed for the following
1) automatically switch b/t recirc and fresh air as necessary (default & what I chose for my LPS) OR
2) when climate control is turned on, user must manually select desired mode.
Since my AC is not ON nor in AUTO when the issue occurs I am not sure this applies. Would anyone with the default LPS setting for the HVAC try and duplicate my issue and post what their experience is?
Again to clarify the spefic conditions I experience
HVAC system not in AUTO (green light not on)
AC not ON
Airflow set to floor and head
Temp set to LO
No defrost on
Fan on lowest setting (one bar)
Recirc mode OFF (fresh air) and vehicle running. I then shut the vehicle off and next time I start it up everything stays the same EXCEPT the RECIRC air button is activated.
Appreciate everyone's assistance! I'll certainly ask the dealer at my 5K visit as well.

Does the recirc engage when outside temp is 10degrees more than the desired setting (thermostat) even when the A/C is off?
Test it out by setting the thermostat to be the same or higher than outside temp [By outside temp, I mean what the gauge reads ... here in Texas, the gauge reads 7degrees or more than outside temp, when parked in sun]
