I have a 2004 RX 330. The radio cuts on and off after 10 minutes of use,the same happens with the Tape and CD's. I have a GPS which is not a touch screen for the radio. Lexus informed me that it would cost $7000.00 to repair. I repeat SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS. Any body else have that problem.
Please let me know what to do if there is an alternitive.
Thank You, Photojay88@aol.com
Run, don't walk, to your local audio shop. They can either trace down the problem (most likely a wiring issue), or replace the whole junky system with a quality sounding aftermarket system at a fraction of that cost.
It sounds like just a minor problem. Most likely a loose wire connection somewhere. Also did the dealer tell you the specific problem? Probably not, they just want to charge you one hundred times the amount that is sensible. These kind of small problems they shouldn't even charge you for it. I just hate how American companies are nowadays. Some minor problem - replace it and charge the consumer a heckload. This is not only bad for the environment, but also bad for the economy because that money could be spent elsewhere.
A very similar thing is happening in my 05. It has 53000 miles and is thus just out of warranty. Luckily, I had them fix a dash rattle at 49000. I reminded them that they just took apart my dash and have spent over $100,000 in the last 5 years there and that I would hate to think they would charge me. He agreed to check all connections, which he did to no avail. He has now agreed to replace both the amp and ML head unit!
