Default Need HELP for buying a RX330

Hi ,
I'm new to this forum, and thanks in advance for everyone's help.

I'm searching for a used RX330 recently, and I found one selling $16000,
it's a 2005 RX330, AWD, with NAV, Bluetooth, back up camera, with 95K miles, 1 owner, accident free, California car, and it's private seller.

I know that nowadays , KBB is no longer a reference, therefore I'm here seeking for some help .

How much should this car worth?
Any tips for checking the car? or anything special i need to check carefully please?

I really want to stay away from high mileage cars, however, my budget is limited, and i dont want to buy a rx300 instead, since I owned one few years ago.

Thanks for the help !!!

Patrick

My friend just sold a clean RX330, 112,000 miles for $8,000, and had difficulty doing that. Offer 10k and walk away if the owner has delusions as to the value of his car in this economy. The car will still be on sale 3 weeks from now if you call him back.

There are scores of RX330s on craigslist.com .

Sounds decent. But with any used car make sure to get it checked out. The only problem I had mine with this many miles was the A/C servos clicking constantly. Other than that check the maintenance history, carfax etc. Personally I wouldnt pay more than 13K for it.

In the state the economy is in, you are better off haggling a little bit more of the price. 19K is KBB value, aim for at least $14000 and below. He will have a hard time selling if he still makes it $16,000.

To me, that seems a little high for a car with 95k miles. Has the timing belt been changed? If possible, I'd look into certified units at the local Lexus dealers. Give them a low-ball offer and see what they say. There's probably never been a better time to buy a car, and I think the dealers sometimes give them away cheaper than the private parties. There are lots of 330's out there, so don't get too emotionally attached to just one.

The 90k service typically will cost you $700 plus depending on how good your dealer is. I've heard of bills in excess on $1,300 so do check to see if the 90k service was done.

That said, the RX is a great vehicle and if serviced properly there is no reason not to expect over 200,000 miles on it. They seem to be holding up well and have pretty good resale value even in these economic times. Not bad MPG and quite a comfortable ride.

I own an 04 and would not think about getting rid of it. It looks and rides as well today as when I picked it up. I'd recommend a good RX as a sound used vehicle but don't skimp on having the car inspected. Ask Lexus to pull the maintenance records too.

I dont see how anyone can charge $700 for this maintenance. Maybe using cheapo generic parts. Just the OEM parts alone for the 90K maintenace cost me like $400 alone.
