Default 2006 RX 330 Headlamp Replacement

Hello all. A little new here & was hoping someone could help me out. Got a 2006 RX 330, was told the other day that I have some condensation building up in the headlamp. Dealer said I should have the passenger side headlamp replaced or the bulb will burn out. Cost of replacement at Lexus they said was $1700. Thats absurd. Been researching online at autopart sites, some are showing the headlamp for $180. Am I missing something here?

Thats expensive. I think it is covered under warranty, some CL members had success because it is a known issue on some models.

it is definately a known issue with the RX series. I got mine changed for free even though i was out of warranty. $1700 may sound expensive, but those bulbs are.

i got mine changed because i do my services at lexus every 5K. since your new to the car, i dont think they will slip this one under the cover for you. well first, the question is if your under warranty? (im guessing not since they quoted you)

Chances are they will be replaced, if you have the car serviced at the dealer. Helps if you are within warranty.

Find another Lexus dealer and take to them. Complain about moisture in the headlight after you run through a car wash or heavy rain. Tell them there is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) on the problem.

Perhaps if you are preemptive at the dealer they might put it through. They do not have to replace for free though if your car is out of warranty.

Headlight condensation is a known issue on both the RX 300 and 330. It is a warranty item that should be handled with to argument by your dealer. If he resists, find another dealer or contact Lexus direct.

The Lexus Customer Assistance Center
Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. PT
Phone: 1-800-255-3987 prompt #4
Fax: 1-310-468-2992

I had both (HID) headlight assemblies replaced on my '04 330 with no questions asked and was told it was a known issue that was common not just to the RX but the SC as well. The fix was quick and free. I understand the replacement would ordinarily be about $1400 or a bit more (for BOTH headlights) if not covered by warranty.
