Default A/C always on?

Its 30 degrees out, I get in and start the car, hit the Auto (climate control) button. Then I go into the Climate screen on the NAV, and the Air Conditioner is on. Is there any way to keep it from coming on?? I know it prevents fogging of the windows, but it also uses gas.

I realize that if I just leave the climate control on all the time it keeps the settings, but I dont always want it on, and I turn it off before I turn car off, every time. Thoughts?

If you want to turn the system on via the Auto mode but without the a/c, merely hit the a/c button and turn it off. It should still operate in the auto mode, iirc.

No extra gas is consumed. The Clutch disengages the actual use of the compressor till either the temp setting is above the cabin temp or defrost is turned on.

the a/c compressor is not always running in a modern car like this. even though the light is on, it just means the comp. is in standby, ready to use when it' sneeded.
leave it alone, let the system do it's job. you won't really notice any mpg difference if you play with it.

Ditto, ditto....so for your peace of mind, you can hit the off on the AC. Your Lexus has full automatic climate control.....the only thing you really want to control is....fresh or recycle air!
