same thing happens with my our 2001 es 300, comepletely different transmission, so maybe it has something to do with the drivebywire? is that what it's called? i dont know but it's something like that

I think those were still mechanical then, but I had an ES300 loaner a few years back while taking my vehicle into Lexus and both me and my father noticed severe hestiation on takeoffs, but then again it was a loaner car.

I had the same problem in the beginning on 07 RX350,. I disconnected the Battery terminals for 15 minutes for a ECU reset and is much better since then. The transmission is more responsive.
You will loose your settings for seat and radio

i havent floored the car, so im not talking about that hesitation.

those who drive an RX330 should no what im talking about. It happens usually during stop and go traffic or if there are consecutive stop signs. the problem is when you dont completely stop, but when rolling them at around 5mph. The car wants to shift to 1st gear, but your instantly re-acelerating, so it wants to shift into 2nd gear again but is to slow to. the result is a jolt, where it tries to make up for its mistake, and that is the main problem.

I think it is a programming and power issue. A lot of Camry and RAV4 owners has the same problem, but both cars in its V6 version do not have the problem.

Computers/Microprocessers control an automobile. That is why there are software fixes for tranny issues (ECU flashing). But it may work or not work for everybody because your driving style be different depending on road conditions and driving style.

This also explains why the batteries drain if you leave it unused for a period of 15 days or more because these microprocessors consume elctricity to store all the parameters/settings.

Have an 07 350 as a loaner. Oh boy, what a difference in HP. As you said, the tranny hesitation is better. But the ride was a bit bumpy, maybe because the tires were pumped full tilt! It is bare bones though, nothing to play around with. But yeah the engine is much quieter. I was offered a car or suv, took the suv, a new car loaner will get me in trouble, if they gave me an ES350. My Acura is aging (aging well I must say). But soon, it needs to be passed down to my son. For now, I am enjoying the RX (should I say the wife is).

Nope--I left my car in the cold--winter time Alaska for 23 days while I was at home in VA. come back and she started right up! These Batteries DO not drain like you are saying unless they are weak and old!!!

did you mean the 4 cylinder? all the v6 models toyotas and lexus models that use either the 3.3/3.5 liter v-6 and 5 speed tranny all have the same tranny problems. I know people who have the v6 camry and have the problem, i know someone who has a 3.3 v6 solara with the same problem. Don't kid yourself while yes the problem is not as bad in the 3.5 then in the 3.3 engine it is there. Some people may feel it less then others and im sure some cars may have it to a lesser degree, but the issue is there. I've had numerous techs and two seperate service advisors admit to me that its there. Its even in the current es350.

Yeah, thats what I am saying. The problem is a lot worst in the 4 cylinder models. The 3.3 liter is better than the I4 and the 3.5 liter is better than the 3.3, so the extra power does mask the problem.

you would think with the same problem in some many different models, that they would take it seriously and find a fix once and for all or at least fix it in the lexus models, since they do cost more.

AM1 is right, they do have a tranny issue. Had a chat with the business manager at the dealership while my car was in the shop, he's told me that (I do not know if he's accurate) that RX350 will come out as 2010 model in 2009. He's trying to sell me extended warranty for 6 years and 70,000 miles for $2,800.00. So total warantee for my car would have been 10 years and 100,000 miles......steep.
