How do you program a speed dial with speed tone?
2008 - RX350 How do you program a speed dial with speed tone?
I am trying to program a telephone speedial that requires the entry of a password after the number is answered. Example is for my Verizon Messages *86w21996#. My mobile is a Motorola V710.
Does anyone have any experience with this? The Lexus manual (page 120) indicates it is possible, but the local Lexus dealer is unable to assist me. Thanks.

This is something I've been meaning to play with as well, but just haven't made the time. In a nutshell, you'll need to enter one or more pauses to allow the call to be answered prior to the additional input. The most common characters for this are 'p' '-', or ','. If I can remember I'll play around with this over the weekend in case you don't beat me to it.

No good news to report I'm afraid, but I did play around a bit this afternoon. The system has 'pause' and 'wait' buttons - they're on the right side of the screen when you edit or define a number in a phonebook entry. I assume that 'pause' waits a certain number of seconds before continuing with the sequence, and that 'wait' puts the sequence on hold until receiving an answer or prompt from the recipient side. Key word = "assume".
Unfortunately neither command was recognized by my work voice mail system. Either that, or the car's BT system failed to send them. I'm not sure which. The call connected just fine but the sequence failed at that point. I tried multiple "p's" and "w's" in various spots with no luck.
It's worth trying on your end as I couldn't confirm if the issue is with the Lexus system. I'm inclined to think that though, only because I have the same sequence programmed in the contact list on my cell phone. When I dial it directly (pressing the buttons on the phone, but connecting through the Lexus BT system) it works just fine.
Good luck - I'll keep playing around with this too.

Thanks for your efforts. Tried it on my RX and had the same result as you did. I suspect that to achieve this one has to use the 'speed tone' as referred to on page 120 of the Navigation System Owner's Manual.

Since this August post have you figured out how to utilize the pause and wait buttons when entering a dial string of numbers? My dealer has no clue and it makes no sense that these buttons would have no purpose/function. I use speed tones once I'm into our corporate voice mail system. Thanks
