I was just looking at the tape deck in my '04 with Nav and ML and thinking it was such a waste of space. Who listens to tapes anymore. Its as useful as an 8-track or an in dash record player.

I record UK TalkSport radio from the Internet onto tapes so I can listen in the car!

I think the only reason the cassette player is still around is so you can use a cassette adaptor with an iPod or XM radio set up. Until Lexus installs an Aux input in the dash area on all their models, the cassette player will still be around.

I have XM in my RX300 that uses the cassette player and I have tested sound quality between it and another friendīs who brought over one with an FM Modulator, and the cassette has better sound quality.

Granted, an aux input would be welcome on new RXs.

Might make for an interesting DIY for the RX300.

AUX Input would be cheaper and more practical.
