Welcome to Club Lexus! RX330/350 roll call & member introduction thread, POST HERE
Excited to find this online community and join the club. We got our 2008 RX350 from a neighbor with 150k on it. It came to them through a friend who owned it as a “corporate car” where her company paid for 5k scheduled maintenance from the local dealership. Lots of records, gotta like that!
The car is my wife’s daily driver and we also make regular 250 mile trips to the coast, mostly highway. Currently has 170k miles. I’m hoping to do most of the maintenance myself. So far, so good, but man that engine bay is something 🤪
Around 160k we dodged a bullet on the oil cooler line leak. Recently had the oil cooler o-ring leak, that was fun. A couple other smaller issues, but otherwise been a great car. Really appreciate all the great knowledge shared here!
Hi All,
Based in the UK so I have a disclaimer to make- the vehicle I've just bought is actually a 2005 RX 300 SE-L with the NAV/ML and media pack (headrest DVD players).
I've not had a chance to take pictures yet so you will have to wait for these!
The car did have the air suspension but it looks like the previous owner has replaced these with coilovers - hopefully this saves on some maintenance costs, but it's in the garage on Wednesday for an inspection to see what will need doing as it has no history with it, bar the annual MOT's which can be viewed online.
Got it for peanuts so not expecting miracles, but it's tidy enough and the engine is sweet enough for a punt. Mileage is at 102k so I plan on getting the timing and waterpump done soon if the overall mechanics/suspension are sound.
Talking about sound though, it is distinctly quiet. On driving - to be expected- but also in regards to the audio.
It's been stood in the damp winter weather for a while and the battery had gone flat so needed a starter pack to get it running on viewing. It's held charge over the past 24hrs after a good ride so I'm hoping not to have to fork out on a battery. Had a new one in the Chrysler 300C last year for £225 (with a discount!) but looking at this battery it's a LOT smaller so probably looking at a oner if needed there.
But I digress, the sound issue is that there's no audio at all. The head unit looks to be working fine, tuning in, loading CD's/tapes and playing, but no sound. The volume control implies it turns up and down as expected, so I don't think there's a mute switch engaged, and the DVD player under the drivers seat loads, powers up, but the screens in the headrest don't power up and obviously there's no volume.
The Nav Unit (in boot/trunk) loads the Nav disk, but the display says insert correct disk and won't progress from this page unless I engage the phone or aircon settings.
If anyone can point me to a thread that might be useful or where I can locate a manual for the ML Audio or media pack used for the 2nd Gen model, that would be great. I have the owners manual and Nav Manual but these are next to useless next to the Chrysler or previous owners manuals I've had. There's not even a page with the fuse box layouts!
I read yesterday that this model is expected to become extinct in the UK by 2030. I want to prove this prediction wrong.
When public policy dictates vehicles should be all electric I think there should be some capacity in the system for ICE.
Who wants to put all their eggs in one basket!

Hi I am a Lexus lover driving now my 6 th Lexus which is a Older 2004 RX 330 Which I purchased used about 7 yrs ago for a run about in the city when I am there , as I am farming and living the country, my RX330 has over 345000 kms on it with alot of country miles, NO ISSUESat all except atm I have fault with my stereo , CD player has no power , the rest of the stereo system, radio/ cassette player all work fine....cheers Fred
Just acquired a basic 20006 rx330 AWD. This was used as a work vehicle and there are a bunch of minor issues- too many to list here- but everything appears to be functional! I really enjoy the luxury and solidness of this vehicle, but I am still discovering deferred maintenance items needing to be addressed. I'm looking for ways to DIY as much as possible, so I'll be checking the how to forums. How do I add pictures ?
