Matched RX grill to SC

Is Savannah beige?

This is for tfisher. The Thundercloud Edition came in two colors, Thundercloud Mist which is a "darker" silver or pewter and the Flint. Mine's in the Thundercloud Mist. As for the Savannah Mettallic, that is actually kind of a thinned down Gold. Our previous Lexus was the GS300 in Burnished Gold. When we went looking at the RX's last spring we told the salesperson at Lexus of Wayzata we were interested in the Gold for the RX. After going there and seeing one we didn't like it as well as the Burnished Gold of the GS. Not that there is anything wrong with that color, just like the little deeper color of the Burnished Gold, which by the way also didn't show dirt or dust very much. As I had mentioned earlier, one of the things that really drew us to the TC RX was the grill. Like the horizontal lines and the chrome. But if every one starts getting the TC grill on their RX then mine won't stand out as much. Oh well. But hey it's a Lexus, we already stand out!
Well, we are still only talking about an SUV here, and even with my Thundercloud Grill, it hardly turns heads. It's nice that the RX330 is one of if not the best looking SUVs on the road, but that's kind of like being the prettiest one on "The View."
Besides, there aren't a lot of things you can do to an RX, unless you really want to pimp it up with neon or spinners, but that's not really the demographic that is buying this car.
I thought the TC grill was a nice change, especially because I became used to the horizontal slats from 5 years (going on 6) of enjoying my SC430. Now my two cars have similar Lexus grills. That's nice for me, but I don't expect anyone else to notice, except other RX drivers, maybe.
I see that the TC came in only two colors, both dark and both in the grey range, and I'm sure this grill, with more chrome than the standard grill, looks really wonderful, although I have not yet seen a TC on the road. They seem to be quite rare.
As for my thinned down gold, I do wish it had a little more gold or bronze in the mix, but this will have to do. I really like the dark blue that was available, but my other car is black, and one dark colored car is enough.
By the way, if anyone needs a replacement standard grill, I have one for sale.
Very reasonable.

I really like the look of the TC grill - I may even consider one myself. It kinda fixes one of the "oddities" of the RX 330. Now, if there were something we could do as easily for those high-water taillights. . .
If you want to stand-out with a different grill, you can change the "L" badge and order a Harrier Badge from Japan like I did. I get compliments on it all the time. No one really has it in the US. They don't use a Toyota badge in Japan. The Harrier has its own unique badge (The Harrier bird - looks like a hawk).
If anyone knows where to get nice classy rims (20") chrome (NO Spinners), please let me know. I dont like the fact the the tires are so narrow on this car.
Also, if anyone knows of a product to play dvds on the front navigation screen, please let me know. I bought the Vaistech audio module for an iPod integration and additional audio auxillary, but cannot figure out how to display video on my nav screen. I currently have two screens in my headrests with a dvd player under the seat and a video switcher.
Further, if anyone knows which chrome sidesteps will fit nicely on the RX, please let me know.
Thanks,
Vinny

To Tfischer.
The TC came in only two colors, Flint Mica and a color called Thundercloud Metallic (a kind of pewter color with hints of lavender). Per Lexus stats, there were only 6,500 TC's built for the North American market. Of that number, 6k were the Flint Metallic color and the balance were Thundercloud Metallic. The Thundercloud Metallic color is obviously a rarity and odds of seeing one are pretty slim; but every morning I get to look at one in my garage!
We just finished a two week, 4,400 mile road trip, 11 Western States and only saw one TC (other than ours) and that was in Flint Mica Color.
Cheers

Orzel:
Thanks for that info, and just in time.
I had not seen a TC edition until yesterday when one passed me while I was out walking in the neighborhood. I recognized the grill coming at me a block away, and thought it looked very good, and even in the Mica, looked very ususual.
For what it's worth, I think the extra chrome (the original slats are mostly black plastic) and the horizontal bars look quite snazzy on my Savanah 330 (aka: tan).
Maybe some day I will catch sight of the TC Metallic color, which sounds very neat.

Tfischer,
If you ever get a glimpse of the TC in the Thundercloud color, you'll know it - very unusual. We were in Mesa AZ last week (we're from Washington state) and I had my RX looked at by Superstition Lexus (had hit a chunk of tire rubber at about 80+ and was worried about possible suspension damage), Service Manager said ours was the first Thundercloud Metallic TC he'd ever seen. In the sunlight it changes colors depending on angle. I've been stopped by several RX owners asking what the color was.
Cheers
