Take it back for service. Thumping sounds are not normal and best to address while the RX is still under warranty. (you didn't mention the mileage)

The TSIB called for replacing a couple of the trans fluid lines around the transmission. They were redesigned to follow a different path to reduce the chances of any sort of vibration or thumping noise. If they really replaced the lines, the noise should be gone.

Here's a question: does the trans shift hard or jerk between 2nd and 3rd gear (around 20-30 MPH) and maybe make other things rattle? If so, then there's a software fix for that. That's another TSIB, and the dealer should be very familiar with it.

Default similar problems on 05 RX 330 (22k)

so here's my transmission issue ... drive up to say 45 mph and then let go of the gas pedal ... cyclic sound of thunk thunk thunk ...

took it to the dealership and they couldn't figure it out at first. Thought it was the axle, front differential, or transmission. 5 business days later and as of about 15 mins ago, they decided the transmission and are replacing it.

any others with this issue?

quite disappointed ... my dad bought his first toyota in 1990 (corolla) for $10k (car is at 180k miles and still going!!). Bought 5 other toyota's in between (all less than $18k!!) nothing at all .... 2005 and $39k ... and the tranny goes at 22k miles? hopefully this isn't the beginning of more problems.

i'll repost this as a main thread.
