Unhappy My RX330 Stinks

Literally. That sulfer smell is SO embarrassing. Here's the scene: pick up a work colleague from the airport in my 6-month old RX330. We're driving along, come to a stop. Suddenly the car is filled with that gawd-awful smell. He looked at me like a had just leaked a silent-but-deadly fart. And with his broken English, how am I to explain that my Japenese "luxury" car makes that smell? I was embarrassed to say the least. I'll try driving around with recirculate set rather than fresh air. I like spending $40k for a car and have to apologize to others for it. Here it is 2005 and they produce a "crappy" car. Literally.

I've driven a bunch of RX330's and none of them smelled. It's not a "crappy" car. Take it to your dealer and have your problem corrected.

I agree. Have the dealer deal with it.

What could be causing a problem like that?

Could be a computer issue, bad fuel or a bad fuel mixture, a bad O2 sensor or a number of other issues. I would expect the most likely cause would be a faulty O2 sensor.

There was another thread on this a couple of weeks ago. It has nothing to do with the brand or manufacture of the car... it's an emissions problem that's being compounded by the catalytic converter. It was also discussed that it could be the brand of gas or a seasonal formulation of gas designed to meet EPA standards... try changing brands of gas stations, too.
