Morning All,
I ran over something on the interstate last weekend that caused the skid plate to break loose and get torn up underneath the car. It's at the shop waiting for the claims adjuster to inspect but I was wondering if any of you all may know what exactly this part with the hole(s) in it might be? I'm having trouble identifying it via parts diagrams and whatnot. I'm not sure if whatever I hit caused the damage but any info would appreciated. Thank you.
FWIW - for the plastic fender liners, and likely most other parts you're seeking, those can likely be had for very little money at a "Pick-a-Part" yard (google one near you). I've found a LOT of items for my car for pennies on the dollar, many outright free so if this isn't all going through insurance this might be a very cost effective avenue to pursue. Those are not "skid plates", skid plates are for actual 4x4 trucks, ours are simply plastic undershields or lightweight metal undershields skid plates are thick for protecting vital stuff when transversing rocks - Chinese knock-offs can be had off Amazon. Good luck
Hey MattRX & Leeper,
Thank you very much for the information! It's a huge relief hearing that those are just drain holes. I was worried it could be something more critical (expensive). Thanks again!
Thanks, @MattRX ! I was just under my 07 recently and thought that was a big leak/breakage I was going to have to address. I have to say, they could have made it look more planned.
Thanks, @RX330Bryce for pic 2 especially! while I was under I looked into that gap in the fender with the tube and plastic tank and thought for sure I was missing a screen/grill of some sort. I used BaT pictures to assure myself it was normal, but your pic 2 is better then any I saw.
