Key replacement
My car came w/ only one master key wrapped in electrical tape as the plastic was broken so I ordered a replacement key fob (plastic portion only) from eBay which worked fine for awhile. Last week I tried to start my RX the key just fell apart into several pieces thankfully I was able to put it back together enough to start the car. I ordered a new replacement whole key from Noble Key they were able to cut the key just using pics I sent from my cell phone in the meantime I ordered a new transmitter for the key from eBay so I could have two working ones in case I lost or destroyed one. The eBay transmitter arrived last week tried pairing it to my car via Teachstream to no avail kept saying "error- ECU cannot see the key". The new key arrived today it came with a transmitter installed, that one paired immediately first time. So I'll likely just throw out the eBay transmitter since it does not pair and I'll kee my fingers crossed this new key lasts more than a year. If you have only one master key you need to be really careful because if you lose that one it will be VERY costly. Love owning Techstream it's paid for itself many times over in just one year
amen on the keeping your original key (even broken) and using a techstream. ordered a cut key from ebay in the new "switchblade" style (~$35 all-in). Been working fine for 2+ years and easier on my pockets and through security checks.

I was quoted I thnk $25 just to get the key code when I visited my Lexus dealer, passed on that then was quoted @$300 for a new OEM key to be cut and programmed. I got a very high quality key, with the transmitter inside and they cut it, this one is higher quality than the cheap plastic replacement eBay plus Techstream for well under $100 now have Techstream to do all my work on my car. Programming (pairing) the key to car took less than 5 mins, programming key fob to open doors and trunk took less than 3 mins that was a simple sequence I found on YouTube did not require any other tools or Techstream. Bottom line - doing DIY saved a TON off money took very little tme. Degree of difficulty is a 1.. the hardest part is finding how to load Techstream onto a Windows 10 laptop as it only functions on windows XP or older that took some time to fogure out but with Virtualbox it runs fine
