As I've seen documented other places, when it rains my radio stops working for a week or so. Sometimes during this time there is a static noise coming through the speakers for a few seconds building up and then a pop. This occurs even when the car is off and is enough charge to kill the battery after a couple hours. It rained here a few weeks ago and the radio finally started working yesterday. I've read that this occurs because moisture or humidity gets into the area that the amplifier is in and causes a short of some sort. I figured this time I would fix the problem before it rains again. I disconnected the wiring and took out the amplifier (I had to disassembly nearly the entire trunk area) and didn't find any signs of water entering the area. Even stranger, I started the car without the amplifier plugged in and the radio still worked fine. Below is a picture of the amplifier. Its PN is 86100-0E030. The wires were cut before I took it out and can't find a wiring diagram online. I suppose I should also note that I have an aftermarket radio.
So I guess I have two questions:
1. How is my radio working without the amplifier if that is what causes the issue when it rains?
2. Is it an issue that the wires to the amplifier are cut?
So at the end of that post you say it is an after market radio. It sounds like the radio. If the amp was disconnected it has nothing to do with it period. Your radio usuall comes with all it needs to produce sound. If you want to amp it up you can.
my 07 RX has a radio problem. Either the stock radios are affected by this problem I don’t know. They shut off by themselves. I have to turn it on again. Now in the second radio.
