So I bought a remote start kit for my wife’s 2011 Toyota Highlander from Start-X.

First, I recommend the Start-X so far, around $200 depending on make/model and installs in about an hour. Doesn’t even need another dongle, it works from the car lock function of the existing key/dongle. Will update if things go south but so far it’s exactly as advertised.

Second, has anyone found a decent remote start kit for the 1st gen RX’s? She’s an ‘02 with 241K but with miles a plenty still to go. And when it’s cold out like last week hoo boy would it be nice.

How are you defeating imobilizer?

Does that not make your vehicle susceptible to be stolen easily.

Dunno. You still have to have a key turn before operating or the car turns off, although they do sell for push to start. Maybe the tumbler can be bypassed, beyond me. But I live in bumble Indiana. Not many pro car thieves eagle eyeing a 2011 Highlander.
