Default HID Upgrade Kit, anybody done it?

I am looking at the Morimoto kit available for like $265 and will probably move forward with that, looks good! 600K bulbs look like a nice neutral white.

I've never installed an HID Kit before, but feel spoiled by the HID's on my ES 300, so we're wanting to swap out the dirty yellow halogens on our RX 300.

Once you have HID's, the halogens really suck in comparison.

I considered some high quality halogen bulbs but I'm afraid if I spend the money on some good bulbs (Sylvania ZXE Gold) I'll still not be satisfied, so I'd almost rather spend more and just go for the HID's.....

Maybe a typo ... did you mean 6000k? That will end up being blue imho. Typically 4500K-5000K maybe more appropriate. Check the value for the lights you like.

I would also suggest to weigh the following as you choose.

1. Improved visibility. [This is not just brighter but more focused at the right spot in front of you as you drive at nominal speed at night].
2. Color of light for others. More prestige than utility.
3. Safety for you and other drivers. [Factory HID has self leveling].

Ah, yes. Thank you. I did mean 6000k.

I will check those values again. The color chart provided by Morimoto made the 6000k appear to be a very neutral white, but perhaps that color chart may not be the most accurate. I always thought 5000k would be the best option as well.

The self leveling feature is a concern. I thought some aftermarket kits offered self leveling, and maybe that is what I am most interested in. I better look into that. If I cannot have self leveling, I may actually decide to just try some high quality halogens, because I do not want to blind other drivers.
