Default Rear Strut Components

Hello,
I can't remember if when I replaced the struts on my RX if I used genuine Toyota mounts OR KYB. I did use KYB struts and have been happy with them. I need to replace the rears on my 2006 Highlander Hybrid and the cost difference between genuine Toyota mounts and the KYB's is pretty substantial. Can anyone attest to the quality of the KYB mounts and/or if I should pay up for the Toyota's?
Thanks...

In my opinion, based on very pertinent experience, DO NOT use KYB mounts; OE only.

I second Jab's advice. If the mounts can be reused, then reuse them instead of replacing with a new non-oem.

I’ve only done that once…never again. I blew out a struck hitting a pothole, and there was a clunking noise which I figured was the blown strut, so I only replace the strut and left the mount. I had to do the job all over again because the mount was also blown.

I agree .. if it is bad then for sure it should be replaced, else you will be doing the job twice. They key being :"if the old part is good then leave it in there."
