what mileage interval do you recommend spark plugs and coils on this car ?
Check the set of books that come with the vehicle. One of them should;d have milage/time based service and each service has list of items that are recommended by Lexus under normal use.

Plugs are 110K miles although they can last longer. Coils are not listed as recommended service items (replace when they fail).

Both my RX300 , one 260k+ the other 196k+ both run about there. They also pop and crack even after short trips from heat shield cooling.

A Grom BT3 bluetooth adapter would make a nice upgrade.

I went with the headphone jack one and used a cig lighter headphone/usb port. Drilled a hole next to shifter. I've only used 3 tanks of gas this year and plan on getting 275-300k miles, which might take me 10+ years and bluetooth might not still be around. Plugs in to my two tablets, laptop and phone in sec. and was cheaper. I got a $10 metal folding phone/tablet holder and cut a piece of wood, stained it black and shoved it in the tape deck together. I can see the ac settings on screen and the ***** with a 8in tablet.
The Cerwin-Vega Spare tire sub was the best upgrade for me.
Amazon Amazon
Still need a wiring kit. Splice in to amp wires under rear seat, run a power wire. It's not going to rattle the house windows, but the side views and car windows will vibrate. Sounds great. I got a silicone lic plate frame to keep it from rattling.

Quick question for you guys:

I read about all the sludge. Of course internet reading, makes you go crazy.

Signs seem to be:
  • Smoke at start up (my car not doing that)
  • Smoking at hard acceleration (not doing that).

Aside from opening up the head, or measuring oil burning (driven 300 miles so far, not enough yet), is there anything else I should look out for "as sludge issues?"

I bought this about 4 years ago. Since then used it 8-10 times, on 4 cars, and still plenty left in the tank. Very happy with it.

Well went to get the smog check today (emissions). Car passed with flying colours. Very happy with that. Now I can start doing the NC to CA plate transfer.

1500 mile update:

Completed the following maintenance:
  • New spark plugs
  • New transmission fluid
  • New Brake Fluid
  • New Steering Fluid
  • New Diff Fluid
  • New Transaxle Fluid
  • New Radiator Fluid
Checked the brakes. Rears are new. Fronts are 70%.

Car has been running fantastic. No issues. Thirsty for what it is (we are averaging 19MPG), but can't complain compared to our 200 series LC or our FJCruiser. However, our 18 Tacoma is doing better MPG wise. A/C super cold, pulls all day at 80-85MPH, smooth. No leaks, and hasn't burned any oil in 1500 miles so far.

Took it out to our farm this weekend. Performed flawlessly, even with Michelin highway passenger tires. k02 or Wildpeaks will be installed before winter, when it goes up to the mountains for skiiing.

Very happy with it so far. Wife complained that RX looks too feminine with me removing the roof rack (well I pointed out the WHOLE vehicle is feminine). The rear OEM spoiler would reallyl help keeping the dirt off the rear. Ebay has them $80-$150 for OEM used ones. Debating if I want to drill and install that, or just stay with the "free theme"
