Default 2000 Lexus RX300

Hello world. I have a Lexus Rx300 with 118,000 miles. I’ve had it for a couple of years. So far it has been great until recently when I was driving the car, it started to shake on me and it threw the check engine light on. I took it to a mechanic and he said that the VVT solenoid has gone bad. So I went the cheap route and went to a junkyard to ****** one off a Toyota Avalon. I installed the solenoid into the Lexus and it didn’t work. Money is tight right now and I would like to avoid the dealership right now. Any other suggestions? Please let me know.

Pick up your solenoids from Rockauto. Saves money from dealer and work great. Cheers

Occasionally the solenoids haven't gone bad but the screen in front of them gets clogged. Check that out first before spending any more money.

You can bench test the solenoids too. Just supply +12v from the battery briefly and hear it click.
