on my 2001 rx 300 awd can i remove the engine through the top i have no lift

I see this is your 1st post sooo...welcome to club lexus!

I have never pulled this engine so I don't know but would like to see pics and tips if someone knows.

 

I have only heard of being dropped from below. That does not mean it is impossible, but it means it is proven and is considered easier. Search will show you the extensive scaffold that was built by person who did this at home.

You can however it's much harder and takes twice as long. You will also need to partially strip the engine down before taking it out if you want to do it this way.

 

If I didn't live in a HOA community I would have this in my carport(or maybe a 4 post). lol
