Recently i got a 2000 RX300 for the winter season here in New England. Last night i was driving and unfortunately took a corner and the cars ABS kicked on and the slide right into a telephone pole. (see pictures posted)
The damage is on the front bumper, & shock absorber. hood is not crunched nor were the headlights touched.
any suggestions for a cheap fix, alternative route to take?
i looked at some bone yards & salvage yards locally and also online on eBay/amazon/cargeeks, etc for a pre owned front bumper replacement.
Sorry about your accident, I'm glad it wasn't serious . A quick search for a bumper cover that is CAPA certified retails under 50 plus shipping on partsgeek.com CAPA certified parts are what the insurance companies typically ask the body shops to go with because they are manufactured to fit like OEM or as close to OEM with consistency without the OEM price tag. An OEM part would be ideal but possibly more costly even used when everything said and done like prep and paint matching.
I'm so glad nothing else was seriously damaged and no one got injured...
The other question I have, is the AC condenser in front of the radiator? when looking up close i see the shock absorber is trashed along with the bumper reinforcement that sits behind the absorber crunched.. hard to tell if it pierced radiator or ac condenser, i drove it home and the temp was completely fine so I don't think it pierced the radiator.
If you are on a budget it would be awesome to find a color matched donor bumper in mint condition- sure would save some work but maybe asking for a miracle,
You AC condensor should be in front of your radiator but you can pop the hood and inspect and go under the car too and have a look.
It doesn't look like it got smashed in that far but need to check to be sure.
If you pierced the AC condensor on impact you would lose refrigerant in seconds and have no AC.
did a little duct tape job till my new bumper is here 🙃😢 temporary for a couple days.. i know it’s ugly but the cracked bumper was driving me nuts

There is a foam backing and the actual bumper [reinforcement] behind it. The front you taped over is just a plastic trim piece. Peek behind the skin and see if the foam is cracked and check the actual bumper is bent. You can get the hidden parts from salvage yard(s). The strength and the give comes from the hidden parts so they may be old, but not bent or cracked.
