So I just changed the wheel bearing, hub, and ball joint on front passenger side, took it on a short test ride, everything was fine, wanted to test it again this evening and now have transmission issues. As soon as I hit the main road, it wouldn't go above 40 mph, so I pulled into a side street, tried to reverse and that didn't even work. I've read on here that there are two speed sensors on the transmission and some have had some luck cleaning them/switching them around and issues were temporarily resolved. CEL is not on, but I don't think it would show for this issue? Would my previous replacement of the wheel bearing have any affect? I know there's an ABS speed sensor, but I did not damage that. If the transmission needs to be replaced, I guess I'm looking at another car now.

Edit: When I first start it up, I hear some weird noises (sounds like gears trying to move, but can't?) then it goes away after a few seconds. Never heard this before until today.

Edit2: Started it up in the driveway and gave it some gas while in parked, the noise above gets slightly louder/more noticeable.

 

Before expanding your scope, revise the work you did. Check that the shaft is really engaged in the transmission. If you worked on one side, get the visual clues from the other side.

Did you replace the locking clip and was it clipped on right and did the shaft engage with a distinctive click.

All CV joints should have been tested and the flex length joint should be tested for free movement.

Lastly, on assembly, if you had to struggle to put it back ... revisit that step. The reassembly should be a breeze.

I did not replace the CV axle, but will double check to see if it's fully seated.

 

When you take out the bearing .. the shaft can hyper-extend.

Double checked, looks fine. I would assume if there was a cv axle problem,no gear would work? It's also the passenger one and looking at the tutorials for changing it seems like a PIA. Drive works, but it seems to stay in 1st gear. I'm going to do a quick transmission fluid drain and fill tomorrow, but seems like it may be on its last leg. Do transmission problems pop out of nowhere? I've searched this forum and it seems to be that way, one day they're driving fine, next day transmission issues.

 

Can someone confirm, U140F = AWD, U140E = 2WD? Called transmission shop and they said it was the opposite.

Edit: Towed it to a transmission shop, they stated 3rd and 4th gear were burned up, waiting to get pricing, might just scrap/junk it or offer it as a mechanic's special on CL. Shop wants $4,000, will go on CL as "mechanic's special".
