Default High rpm's on freeway over 4000

Hello,

2001 RX300: Over 4000 RPM on the freeway at about 65 MPH. Some say knock sensor some say VVT solenoid. Can only afford one right now. Thanks in advance!

Post the Check engine codes and we can help you figure out what is going on.

You may be draining your pocket book by the extra fuel you are burning, but at a slow rate.

That begs the questions:
Did you purchase the knock sensors from a reputable source [OEM I hope]?
Did you change the wiring harness?

Wow! I'm not sure. It wasn't the $100-200 part. Do you have a suggested brand name or website where I can get the right part. Lesson number 1: "DO IT THE FIRST TIME!" Thanks!

Others may give you a lead on items.
I strictly use OEM sensors and buy from Lexus/Toyota dealers [in town or on-line]. I save by DIY, with the assurance that the part(s) are genuine.

If you have not, I would encourage to use the search function ... there is a test only hack option and detailed legal DIY.
