Default Does my rotor complete unusable?

2 years ago, I replaced my front brakes and new rotors. My brake is EBC Yellowstuff, and my rotor is Toyota OEM.

However, I didn't expected Yellowstuff brake worn out so soon. Just 2 years and 20000 miles. Last week, when I drove on street, I heard metal sound when I push the brake. I take my car to the shop.

They said, my brake worn out. I agree this part.

They also said, my rotors need to be replaced too, because it is "metal to metal", I didn't understand. I just know a rotor should last more than 100000 miles.

So I took the pictures and take my car back. Could you help to check if my rotor is reusable?

Thanks

They look badly scored. Perhaps they can be turned on a lathe but because rotors are so inexpensive these days most mechanics - and all dealers - insist on new rotors.

You can only tell if a front rotor has potential life left if it measures between the nominal thickness 27.90 mm and the discard thickness 26 mm. If there is enough meat on there, the runout has to be measured and accounted for to machine down in your case. It is more cost effective to buy new rotors at this point. EBC yellows are pretty aggressive despite the company's claim , i've tried that formula on other cars. If you want to minimize wear with good cold bite stick with OEM or ceramic formulas like Akebono...or go with a semi-metallic pad if you want more bite for street.

No one would turn that rotor for you. It's industry standard. I would't turn my own like that and I'm a tech. It's not just about staying within thickness. But the cutting tips tend to follow patterns that start out that bad. It's too hard to get a smooth cut, and you'd be back complaining about noise and pulsation soon after. So we do not do anything with rotors that look like that.
